Month in Review: October

So I’ve decided to start doing posts that sum up my month. I’ve seen other bloggers do it and I think it’s a good idea for me to be able think back and count my blessings as well as set goals for the month ahead.

Before I get to that though, I think I’ll talk about my day so far.

It was business as usual. My first class (an IT class) involved reviewing for an upcoming exam on Thursday (which I’m really nervous for ). My second class (Microeconomics), however, involved starting new material. Only the classroom computer was acting up and my professor was in need of assistance. With me being an IT  major, I decided to help (but only after she offered extra credit). It took me a bit but I was finally able to get her laptop to connect to the projectors and she was ultimately able to proceed with the lecture. As I finished, I heard one of classmates boo me and someone else asked how much extra credit I was getting. I ignored them both. I assume that the dude that booed was disappointed because he was hoping for an extremely short class on account of technical difficulties.

That whole thing was minor but it did cause me to think of a defense. And here it is: we’re students, we’re there to learn and make the most out of our money (or our parents, etc) so that we can get the information we need in order to be successful in our chosen fields of study. If the class were to have ended early because of technical difficulties, that would have been hundreds of dollars wasted. So I stand by what I did because I made the most out my education. Anyone who thought differently was either lazy or ignorant. Enough said.

But October was pretty crazy. There were a lot of ups and downs but I’m still persevering. I can’t believe how fast it went by though.

My Highlights for the Month were:

  1. Getting to visit my grandmother the weekend before last
  2. Meeting some of the new pledges in my fraternity
  3. RWBY volume 4 premier

Some Lows from the Month were:

  1. A part in my car had to be replaced
  2. I failed a test
  3. Worst week: Oct 9 – 15

It’s all good because I accomplished:

  1. Making a live data program with JSON and Java (pictured above)
  2. Making a palindrome checker with Java
  3. Getting As on both my Business Calculus classes
  4. Receiving passing grades for exams in my other classes

I also:

  1. Finished the anime Rurouni Kenshin (Loved it!)
  2. Started the fourth arc of Sailor Moon
  3. Started watching the anime Vampire Knight
  4. Bought some markers to use in my adult coloring book

This month, I’m looking forward to:

  1. Going home for Thanksgiving break in two weeks
  2. Seeing my family
  3. Getting my harder assignments done
  4. Learning more skills

This month, I hope to accomplish:

  1. Get my modge podge game done for class
  2. Get my final project (also a game) done for class
  3. Get my live data project done for class
  4. Get passing grades on future exams

And finally a song that I fell in love with last month was:

I hope everyone’s October was good!

Good luck with your projects 🙂 Although I review my month, I find that I often forget what’s happened which is also why I do my Georgie Gazette to keep myself updated. ? It’s easy to forget what happens in the month sometimes.

All months have lows but I am glad you had some positive points! Also I wouldn’t worry about that person booing you. Very immature.

  • Pim

Other than Hurricane Matthew I had an okay October. The power was out for a week and it was so boring with no internet and on top of that the debris mess I had to clean up. Family drama a mess and not much else 🙁

  • Pauline

I love monthly round-ups, it helps me look back at the positives and count my blessings :’) Good luck with your projects and school work, I’m sure your hard work will pay off in the end!

It’s great to do a recap of any kind whether it’s a weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly recap. You remind me of my days in college. That person who boo’d you is really immature. If he doesn’t want to learn, then he’s more than welcomed to leave the class. Good that you want to make the most out of your education. At the end, your eagerness to learn will land you at better opportunities. I hate it when car parts need to be replaced. They can be pretty pricey!

Congratulations on getting good grades on your classes :). Hope you’ll have a great November!

I wouldn’t be too perturbed by the guy booing in class.. what you did was good! And you’re absolutely right, it would’ve been a waste of resources.

October seems like it was a good month 🙂 I might start doing this style of post at the end of each month, too. It seems fun and it’s always nice to have a direction for blogs.

I am SOOO excited for thanksgiving, too!! >~< I am the one doing all the cooking, but I'm so excited to feast @-@ <3

I think it’s great you did that for the class because you didn’t want your education, time, and money be wasted. That guy who booed you is definitely immature, and I hope he learns the hard way that his immaturity and laziness will not get him anywhere great in life!

Reading this entry makes me miss my own uni days. I’ve definitely had my ups and downs with classes, but I still enjoyed learning, so that’s something I miss.

And wow, Rurouni Kenshin! You know, that anime was mainstream when I was a teen, but I never really watched the whole thing to get into it. I’ve watched the movies of the series, but never the actual anime. I should remedy that because I am really loving the Edo time period.

I hope you’ll have a good November, or are having a good month so far! ^_^

I just don’t understand the way some people are or think, why go to collage or school to pay for not learning anything. I remember I was angry more toward my school if my lessons did get canceled or I didn’t learn anything because I thought it was a waste of my money and I didn’t want to not really know anything for what I majored in.

Lots of good things, though the car part – ug. I hate when I have to spend monies on my car. LOL

How are you liking Vampire Knight so far? The anime is cute but the manga really goes into way more detail. The manga is pretty much finished, but the author is writing like a sequel type story that comes out every 3 months or something like that.

    • Cassidy

I like it so far. Vampire Knight is different from what I’ve watched so far but it’s definitely cute. I’ll have to take a look at the manga once I finish the anime.
