Catastrophe Rising

"I'll carry your world"

Little Roadtrips

So I’ve been really busy for the past couple of weeks. Last week was especially hard because I was working around 5 hours each day and I had worry about my school assignments. And I was totally exhausted at the end of each day. 😴

One way that I like to cope to with all the stress is that I drive my car. I don’t drive her as much while I’m at school because there’s no need for me to. Living less than a block from campus and being about 5 minutes from job means that driving isn’t really necessary. But I drive my car whenever I have a good excuse.

This past Friday, I got back to my apartment at around 8. After contemplating what I was going to eat for dinner, I decided to jump in my car and drive to the next town over to get food that wasn’t available in my college town. It was such a relief to not have to worry about anything other than the basic protocols that come with driving, as well as changing the music stations, occasionally singing my heart out. Plus it was nice to just spend time alone after spending the day trying to be of service to other people.

I did the same thing today. I got a postcard in the mail from one of the parcel carriers notifying me that they have a package addressed to me but could not deliver it due to the fact that the sender had forgotten to include the apartment number. So I got in my car and drove the 15 miles (24.1 km) south and got it from the carrier facility.

Not only is it peaceful for me to drive but my car (a 2011 Nissan Versa I named Cameo) has been with me since just before I turned fifteen. I learned how to drive with my car. It’s what my dad used to chauffeur me around. I have different items in there that remind me of certain times with my family. And it feels kind of homey whenever I drive it. It’s like my family were just in it.

Anyway, that’s all I have for now. I’ll try to update more regularly.

  1. Thank you for the compliments on the site. I appreciate it. ^.^
That’s cool you went on a rode trip. It’s good you had fun being on your own 🙂

  2. It’a nice that you are able to jump in your car and juat drive around. I am still taking my driving lessons but it’s the highlight of my week, I swear. While I am driving I forget about everything and I just relax . I can’t wait to have my own car and be able to drive to school in the morning because I am getting crazy with the public transportation 🙁 It’s so crowded and my enxiety kicks in everytime.

  3. It’s awesome when you love your car enough that it helps you destress a bit. I love driving around too XD. The Nissan Versa is a good economy car that gets you from one place to another. Cameo is a nice name for your Versa :).

  4. It’s always nice to be able to get into your car and drive and get away from the stress of it all sometimes 😊 I love long car rides just for that reason – it’s such a stress relief and lets me wonder off for a bit (NOT DRIVING of course haha!) I hope you find more time to drive and use it as a stress relief in the next week 🙂

  5. When I was younger one of the things my family liked to do was go for a short drive on the outskirts of town and just talk so I can kind of understand doing a drive for a stress relief. I can’t really enjoy it now though cause I do so much driving with my job that I’m just sick of it, lol.

  6. It’s kinda nice to hear that you have a bit of an attachment to your car. I do too, but I have only had it for two years. I was a late learner. As you probably understand, there was very little reason for me to learn when I first got my permit in 2007. So for a while I drove supervised, but never did a test, and didn’t bother to until last year. I usually catch public transport to work, and in university I did as well. My parents used to give me lifts to school because I went to school close to home.

Now it is more convenient to have a car and I do use it to drive to the gym and to my fiancé’s house (there is no good public transport option). Sometimes I drive on weekends but I actually hardly drive alone. I do like being alone sometimes especially after being around people. This might be due to the fact that I am introverted and being around people can really tire me out. But I rarely bother going on drives alone. I do find driving relaxing, maybe next time I’m bored I might consider going for a drive. 😆
